being a translatorTranslating is a so-called free profession. Anyone can register as a translator. Some translators studied a language at university, others were born abroad or were raised bilingually. Translators will generally use the 'native speaker' method, meaning they translate from a foreign or second language into their native tongue.

what does it involve? There is more to translating than just speaking a second language. A translation should be as close to the original as possible, in meaning but also in tone, style, references and expressions. A translator must be an expert in both their first and second language, as well as the history, culture and society of the respective countries where this language is spoken.
